A Plan Commission hearing on the Zoning Ordinance draft was convened by Plan Commission Chairman Wes Hedrich at 7:00pm at the Potter Village Hall.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.  Notices of the hearing were posted and published in a timely manner by Mary Schwartz, Town Clerk, per affidavits.  Paul Birschbach presented a power point overview of the Zoning Ordinance draft and Zoning Map draft.  The hearing was opened up for discussion and public comment.

The regular meeting of the Town of Rantoul Plan Commission was called to order following the public hearing by Wes Hedrich.  He verified that meeting notices were posted on June 14, 2011, by Mary Schwartz, Town of Rantoul Clerk, per affidavit.  All Plan Commission members were present.

Motion by Gregg Eickert, second by David Jannette to accept the agenda as posted; motion carried.

Motion by Eugene Mertz, second by Marion Kasper to approve the May 16, 2011, minutes as printed; motion carried.

The public hearing comments were reviewed.  The setbacks for manure pits, etc., will be compared to the Calumet County Zoning Ordinance.

Motion by Eugene Mertz, second by David Jannette to change the rear and side yard setbacks in each zoning district from “100 feet for animal waste structures and buildings housing livestock, 25 ft for residential and non-residential {not housing livestock}” to “25 feet for all structures”; motion carried.

The Town of Rantoul Zoning Map was reviewed.  Motion by David Jannette, second by Gregg Eickert to make changes requested by citizens at the public hearing to the Zoning Map draft; motion carried.

Recommendation of the Zoning Ordinance and Zoning Map to the Town Board is tabled.

The Preferred Land Use Map was reviewed.  Motion by David Jannette, second by Marion Kasper to approve the changes set forth by Paul Birschbach, matching the Preferred Land Use Map to the Zoning Map draft; motion carried.  Motion by David Jannette, second by Marion Kasper to recommend the changes to the Preferred Land Use Map to the Town Board for consideration; motion carried.

The next meeting will be set as needed.

 With no further business, motion by Gregg Eickert, second by Marion Kasper to adjourn; motion carried.
